TQR Confidential

Edward McDermott continued: On[e] (sic) sentance stricture.

I accept all the changes that you have made. (I'm a writer, and it is hard to accept any changes. However, when in doubt, I have learned that the external eye is usually the better one.)

One thing. I think we should shorten this sentance.

"Didn’t they have prison tattoos on their arms?"

Dropping all the reference to ball point pen.

Otherwise, I don't seen any revisions that are required.

Sincerely Yours

Edward McDermott

[Editor's note: Let it be known that writers are not editors nor writers editors nor ever the twain shall never say never. Nor let it not be said that I might like you better if we slept together. Irridescent of that, TQRstories is pleased to have Mr. McDermott's brilliant venture GOING HOME for it's winter issue.]

E. McDermott accepts his inclusion into the TQR circle of closers

I'd like to congratulate you on placing GOING HOME with tqrstories for the Winter Quarter. I've attached the version I edited. If there are some slight changes you disagree with, I'm sure we can hash it out. I won't gush too much here since I will do enough of that for public consumption in the executive suite, but suffice to say your piece is mesmerizing and a damn fine example of how setting can be used to its full potential. Congratulations. I will be sending you an electronic contract shortly and sending out your $75 soon, after all the formalities have been put to rest. Type at you soon.

Dear Theodore,

I'm glad you liked it. Gush all you want, especially with money.

Seriously. I haven't read your revisions. I promise to get back to you after Christmas. In the meantime, I wish you all the good wishes of the season, peace, joy, family, and hope.

TQR back channels: Lalo bids adieu to Texas and another quarter

Great working with you again, Otto -- and hey, we actually had two
worth sending up!

I'm in the middle of packing to move -- the truck's coming Thursday,
which is when I'm leaving, too. I'll be offline from some time
Wednesday night through whenever the ISP gets hooked up at the new
digs (might be as early as Saturday).

Laters, y'all

(oops, better stop saying "y'all" -- I'm not going to be in the South any more)

Have a good move, sir. And "ya'll' is a handy, utilitarian turn of phrase. I still use it here in NM and I grew up in Iowa, ya'll. Laterz.

Happy moving and all the best stuff in your new life, Lalo.

We'll see you on the other side.

=;)

The other side of what? And why the emoticon?

I think you're all one person. Terry Bisson.
